Chargers Head Coach: Anthony Addlesberger

Coach Anthony is now in his 18th year involved with the Chargers. He is a former
Charger and Chambersburg Trojan who was the Charger's Head Age Group
Coach for over three years.
Addlesberger joined the Chargers as a nine year old, and was a member of three
Charger National Teams. Upon graduation from High School, Addlesberger
attended Duquesne University from 2003-2005, where he competed at the
Division I level. As a two year letterwinner, he was named to Duquesne's Atlantic
10 conference team both seasons.
In 2005, Addlesberger went on official hiatus from Duquesne to do missions work
for an inter-denominational Christian organization called Youth With a Mission
(YWAM), living in or visiting places such as Thailand, Burma, South Korea, St.
Croix, Montana, Colorado, and England.
When he came back to the states permanently in 2007, he continued his work with
mission based organizations, joining the YMCA staff as an assistant coach for the
Chambersburg Chargers. He also helped start the CHY Master's Team, and
competed as a swimmer/coach at the 2008 YMCA Master's Nationals, earning four
top 3 finishes.
Addlesberger's first experience as a head coach came in the Summer of 2008,
when he, along with Coach Kate Miller, started the Moss Spring Sting Rays at the
Moss Spring Swim Club in Greencastle, PA.
Also, in 2008, Addlesberger officially transferred to Messiah college, where he
competed for the Messiah Falcons, helping lead the men's swim team to a 4th
place conference finish in only their second season of existence.
Addlesberger was a member of the first Messiah swim-team in school history,
holds 2 relay records at Messiah, was a ten time All Conference swimmer in the
MAC Conference, and was named to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate
Academic Honor Roll.
Addlesberger graduated from Messiah College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Communication. He stayed on to coach the Charger swim team, and in
October 2010, was named the Head Coach. In March of 2011, Addlesberger
accepted a full-time position at the YMCA as Assistant Aquatic Director.
In his first season as Head Coach, Addlesberger's swimmers broke 49 different
team records, many of them multiple times. At the YMCA LC National
Championships, Addlesberger's swimmers had 3 top 8 finishes, including a
second place finish by Mike Harmon in the 50 free. Also, 2 Charger relays
finished in the top 20. All of these were team firsts.
Addlesberger is excited for the upcoming season and expects his swimmers to
continue breaking records and performing at a high level.
