2008 Chargers Summer Swim Team

New swimmers should be eager to participate in the sport of swimming and be enthusiastic about time spent in the water. A 2 Week trial period is available at no charge at the beginning of the fall and summer sessions. Practice times: Level I: M, W, F 7—8 AM                    Level II: M—F 7—8 AM                       Level III & IV                                                   Short Course: M—F 7—9 AM                                   Long Course: T, W, Th 5:30—7 PM (tentative @ Municipal)  Swimmers must be Current YMCA members. Fees are as follows: Level I                     $130.50                Level II                    $217.50                 Level III & IV            $240.00   Payment Plan is available: See Coach.       Financial aid for participation on the YMCA Swim Team is available. Please see Coach Chance or Carla Haller. Financial aid requests must be renewed seasonally. Parent Volunteers: There's no way a program like this can sail towards it’s goal with out the help of conscientious, involved volunteers. Our Parent Association (CYCAPA) will meet on the first Tuesday of every month beginning Tuesday 5/6/8 and again on 6/3/8, 7/1/8 and 8/5/8 at 7:00 PM at the YMCA! ALL PARENTS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND!

Meets: There are four types of meets for Charger Swimmers this summer. ISL Meets: These consist of 3 ISL  Dual Meets, 1 ISL Invitational Meet, 1 ISL Divisional Championships and 1 ISL All Star Meet (The All Star Meet participation is based on achievements made at Divisional Championships) If you are a 1st, 2nd or 3rd year swimmer these are excellent meets for you to attend as you grow in the sport.  These don’t have entry fee’s associated with them but do require small dues be paid per swimmer to the League. USA Meets: These meets require that a swimmer be registered with USA swimming. This is not a requirement for participation on the summer team. This is typically for aggressive swimmers who want to swim against aggressive competition.  These meets have entry fees and require farther travel than do ISL meets. Local Non USA/YMCA Meets: These meets are local invitational meets where the competition falls somewhere in between ISL and USA Meets. They are open to all team members and are a good way to test the waters for bigger meets. These meets do have entry fees and include meets on 6/8 and 6/22 YMCA Meets: The only true YMCA Meet in the summer is the National Championships.  If one qualifies for this championship they must have three “Inter-Association” meets under their belts to comply. This requires swimmers that meet qualifying times and participation in 3 ISL Dual Meets.
